Nov 04, Get the brass one tagged by Slab and using a block of wood to prevent buggering up the top of new insert, drive it in with a small hammer very slowly.
Then find (or make) a Teflon washer (think thin cutting board) to put between the seat base and the seat itself.
Omit this step and put up with the squeals that metal-to-metal joints make. Sep 02, In order to know for certain that your seat post bushing needs to be replaced, separate the swivel tilt mechanism (and the rest of the chair) from the base.
If the bushing remains attached to the mechanism and does not come away with the base, this is a sign it needs replacing. If it does come away with the base, but you can see that it is cracked or broken in any way, then it also needs replacing. It finally was forced into the hole but the pedestal still fits so tight that the only way I can remove the seat is to pull it up and out with the pedestal then beating the bushing off with a pry bar and hammer. Overall happy to even find a bushing I could get to work.
